Rallying Hope for Reproductive Freedom; Kamala Harris Has a Rally in Houston
Last Friday, October 25, 2024, presidential candidate Kamala Harris hosted a rally at the Shell Stadium in Houston, Texas. The rally officially began at 3 pm, but people lined the streets and surrounding areas as early as 11 am.
Participants had to have a free ticket to guarantee entry into the rally. About 30,000 supporters filled the stadium. As expected, a few haters and hecklers tried to sabotage the rally but did not stop anything. Before Kamala addressed the crowd with her speech, there were a few appearances from guest speakers and celebrities.
The guest speakers included a few women who were strongly impacted by the overturn of Roe V. Wade and Texas' strict abortion laws. A male OB-GYN and a crew of doctors gave an impactful speech. The overall theme of this rally was reproductive freedom. Celebrity appearances included a song by legendary country artist Willie Nelson. Actress Jessica Alba gave a speech. 2024 US Senate candidate Colin Allred spoke to the crowd. Tina Knowles, the mother of Beyonce and Solange Knowles, presented a speech to the crowd preceding the legendary Houstonian Kelly Rowland. Right after Kelly Rowland spoke, global icon Beyonce Knowles Carter gave a speech, not as a celebrity but as a mother. Beyonce's speech inspired the crowd and inspired more Houstonians to get out there and vote.
Kamala Harris came out after the preshow and spoke to the crowd for a while. The audience was excited to hear from the first Black female presidential candidate and cheered her on.
Hopefully, it inspired people in the diverse crowd to get out there and exercise their right to vote.
